The subject of AI is an unescapable conversation at the moment and we are all being bombarded with new ideas and opinions relating to how this may affect L&D teams specifically.

It’s important to remain open and pragmatic within all these discussions. There are so many great reasons to love AI, but there are also some fundamental concerns we need to explore and be aware of as professionals.

So, we wanted to know – how are L&D folks feeling about AI?

Let’s embrace the learning involved with AI

Here at Kineo, we are always open to learning more. We never take for granted that the world is constantly developing and technology is vastly and rapidly improving. This also means that we can always do better to support our learners and provide more solutions to teams and individuals. Sounds exciting eh?

The notion of AI may not be welcome by everyone though. We totally empathise that it may feel scary or confusing or even intimidating. We also recognise that it is definitely going to be part of our work culture in the near future – as the technology progresses and becomes integrated into our everyday lives.

How does AI impact us today?

Let’s bring ourselves back to the here and now though. Whilst the rise of AI may be guaranteed, how we deal with it now is what we can control and influence. And that is what we need to focus on.

We are very keen to learn more about what our fellow colleagues, partners and employees think about these changes. What are the good things about the rise of AI? What are the drawbacks? And what needs to be done for us to be comfortable with using it in a L&D context?

What our community says

We recently did a couple of polls to our LinkedIn community about the impact AI tools like Chat GPT might have on the L&D world.

We asked our followers ‘How are you feeling about AI’s impact on future learning experiences?’. Although it was a relatively small sample (45 people), we saw that 64% were excited and eager to learn more. With a tiny 7% feeling daunted and unsure about the impact AI may have.

Whilst we realise this is a small pool of people – it does show us that there’s an appetite and a willingness to learn more and embrace the possibilities that AI might bring.

A couple of weeks after this poll we asked our community a more direct question relating to Chat GPT and how this tool specifically may benefit learning experiences.

Half of the respondents said that they use this tool to create a ‘draft’ of content when they are creating new learning materials. And nearly 40% said that they use it to brainstorm new ideas. Could there be a benefit to using Chat GPT as an ‘inspiration aid’ to streamline our processes and help us save time?

So, what does this tell us?

Clearly, this is still a very open and complex debate, but right now, things are looking positive and AI could be what L&D teams need to transform their learning experiences into truly accessible, dynamic and bespoke experiences.

What do you think?

We are always here to have an open chat, share ideas or simply talk through your challenges. Give us a mention on our social channels and let us know how you’re feeling about AI!
