LV=: Scaling organizational learning with Mindtools
Quick, accessible and flexible learning – so LV= employees could fit learning into their day.
The challenge
LV= has a strong learning culture based on the “3 Es” – Experience, Exposure and Education
They needed a solution that supported all three. The L&D team wanted:
- A platform that managers and employees could use to learn in the flow of work
- Resources to embed into formal management development programs
- Tools that would help colleagues build confidence in skills such as presenting, mentoring, and having difficult conversations
- Content broad enough to cover professional skills, personal wellbeing, and management development.
With a busy workforce spread across roles, LV= also needed something quick, accessible and flexible – so employees could fit learning into their day wherever they were.
The solution
LV= chose the Mindtools Content Hub to give employees bite-sized, accessible learning resources they can use on demand.
Every course in LV=’s management development framework includes a Mindtools element. Employees are also encouraged to explore the platform independently.
As Sinead Finn, Senior Product Governance Consultant, says:
“I log in to Mindtools when I have a meeting coming up – to be more assertive or refresh my negotiation skills – there’s a whole bunch of tools I can use.”
The results
Mindtools is now an essential part of LV=’s learning culture, with employees at all levels using it to prepare, reflect, and grow.
- 68% of employees find what they need immediately when using Mindtools.
- 3.5 out of 4 rating for effectiveness of content.
- NPS of plus 20 – employees would recommend Mindtools to others.
- Engagement has doubled since LV= introduced Mindtools champions.
- Monthly data and analytics help LV= celebrate learning and highlight top users.
Individual managers also benefit from:
- Increased confidence – one Customer Service Manager used Mindtools’ presentation resources to overcome nerves and deliver with confidence.
- Better conversations – managers use practical tools to improve their emotional intelligence skills and prepare for mentoring sessions and important or difficult discussions.
- Personal wellbeing – stress management resources help managers stay productive and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
- Practical improvements – one consultant used Mindtools to improve report writing, focusing on the “so what” for the business and customers.
How the LV= and Mindtools partnership boosts learner engagement:
- Playlists to extend learning – e.g. creating themed playlists on topics such as neurodiversity and mental wellbeing.
- Skill Bites – weekly micro-learning content that employees can consume in minutes.
- Mobile access – employees learn on the go, whether at their desk, at home, or on the bus.
- Mindtools champions – sharing enthusiasm for Mindtools across teams has helped boost engagement.
- Post-course resources – linking playlists to training programs to reinforce and deepen learning.
