The challenge

Trillium Health Resources supports thousands of healthcare providers and hundreds of internal staff, each with different needs, so they required a single, centralised LMS that could serve multiple audiences. Their platform, My Learning Campus, is the main touchpoint for all stakeholders, but it needed greater flexibility to support varied registration types, including guest access, approved registrations and Single Sign-On.

They also needed a centralised webinar sign‑up process with calendar invitations that integrate with their video conferencing platform.

To strengthen accountability for required staff training, Trillium Health Resources wanted the ability to track employee growth and development, ensuring managers could monitor progress across their teams.

The solution

Trillium Health Resources uses Totara’s audience feature to define four core groups — providers, internal staff, staff managers and testers — and to control access to more than 300 courses. Audience segmentation ensures that sensitive content is only shown to the right people, so providers, for example, cannot view internal staff training.

Single Sign-On gives internal staff faster access to My Learning Campus, which has been a major driver of increased engagement. Trillium also uses Totara’s seminar feature to manage attendance, track sign‑ups, send calendar invitations and issue reminders from one place. Learners can adjust their registration dates when needed, with automatic notifications to managers or course creators, adding an extra layer of care and flexibility.

Updated permissions now allow managers to access and export completion reports directly, saving time and increasing accountability for required training. This simple change has reduced reliance on administrators and freed up key users to focus on supporting their communities and delivering meaningful impact.

More than 1,500% growth in completed courses and increased engagement

Trillium Health Resources have updated their learning platform to one that caters to their various audiences and encourages engagement from all corners.

Since moving over to Kineo learning platforms, their course engagement levels have substantially increased—from 866 completed courses in June 2020 to 14,197 as of October 2021. That’s an impressive 1,500% increase!

Trillium Health Resources have also saved vast amounts of time and money by using various Kineo and Totara features like permissions, rules and reporting. Plus, the audience segmentation and tracking feature, along with process automation, ease of editing, and other features, have all helped them create more engaging content in less time. Having an all-in-one system that is easy to use means that their team can focus on other duties—without worrying about what their learning platform is up to.
